Start 2026 with intention. This January, let’s shape our spiritual lives together—growing in faithfulness, deepening friendships, and following Christ more fully. Join us beginning January 4 as we continue our Year in Matthew.
In 1880 E. W. Benson, then Anglican Bishop of Truro, England, composed a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, based on ancient sources, for Christmas Eve. In 1918 it was adapted for the chapel of King's College, Cambridge, by its Dean, Eric Milner–White, who also wrote The Bidding Prayer. The Blessing after The Lord's Prayer, added by Milner–White, was first included in its present form in 1930. Join us for this informal celebration on the first Sunday of Christmas, December 28!
On Christmas Eve, we welcome the Christ Child, the fulfillment of our joy, as we proclaim with the prophet Isaiah, “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Emmanuel, God with us, has come to dwell with us as a tiny baby. “His authority shall grow continually, and there shall be endless peace for the throne of David and his kingdom."(Isaiah 9:7). Christ dwells with us, to live in the neighborhood of vulnerable humanity as a vulnerable child. May the light of Christ warm our hearts and light our way as we share the joy of God’s salvation wherever we go.
